Changed your mind or ordered the wrong remote? You have 30 days. Something wrong with it? You’re covered by the Australian Consumer Law, and by warranty.
Before you send anything back
Please contact us first with your order number. Many “it doesn’t work” problems are a programming step we can sort out over the phone in a few minutes, and we’ll tell you where to send the remote if it does need to come back.
Change of mind: 30 days
If you change your mind, or ordered a remote that doesn’t suit your opener, you can return it for a refund or exchange within 30 days of delivery, as long as:
- it’s unused and in its original packaging, with all parts included
- you contact us first so we can match your return to your order
For change-of-mind returns you pay the postage back to us. We refund the price of the remote to your original payment method within 5 business days of receiving it. If you’d rather swap for the right remote, we’ll send the replacement free.
Faulty, damaged or not as described
If your remote arrives damaged, is faulty, or isn’t what we described, contact us. We’ll arrange a repair, replacement or refund as the Australian Consumer Law requires, and we pay the return postage. This applies no matter how long ago you bought it, within the period the law considers reasonable for that product.
That includes a remote we told you is compatible with your opener that turns out not to be. If our listing said it works with your opener model and it doesn’t, that’s on us.
Warranty
- Genuine remotes are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. We handle the claim for you: contact us, not the manufacturer.
- Auto Openers aftermarket remotes come with our own 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of delivery.
Warranty doesn’t cover damage from misuse, water, being dropped or run over, a flat battery, or normal wear such as worn button covers.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Our warranty is in addition to these rights, not instead of them. To make a warranty claim, contact us with your order number and a description of the problem. We’ll cover reasonable costs of returning a faulty item to us.
Warranty provider: NGRO, ABN 96 169 385 479, operator of The Garage Door Opener Co. Contact details are on our contact page.
