Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with and how you can access or correct it. It follows the Australian Privacy Principles.

Last updated 6 November 2026. The Garage Door Opener Co is operated by NGRO, ABN 96 169 385 479 (“we”, “us”).

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number and what you bought.
  • When you contact us: your message, contact details and anything you send, such as photos of your remote or opener.
  • When you browse: basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies and server logs.

We do not collect or store your card details. Payments are handled directly by our payment providers, Stripe and PayPal, on their secure systems.

Why we collect it

  • To process, pack, send and track your order
  • To answer your questions and handle returns and warranty claims
  • To issue tax invoices and meet our legal and accounting obligations
  • To prevent fraud and keep the website secure
  • To understand how the website is used so we can improve it

We will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We share only what each provider needs to do its job:

  • Delivery companies such as Australia Post and StarTrack, to deliver your order
  • Payment providers Stripe and PayPal, to take payment and prevent fraud
  • Our website host (Kinsta) and other IT service providers that store and run our systems
  • AI service providers such as Anthropic, whose tools help us manage orders, prepare replies to customer enquiries and keep product information up to date. A person on our team reviews and sends every message to customers.
  • Our accountants and advisers, and government bodies where the law requires it

We never sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate (for example payment processors, cloud hosting and AI service providers). We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to keep your cart working and to remember your session. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout may not work without them.

Keeping it secure

We store information on secure systems with restricted access, use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, and keep order records for as long as tax and consumer law require, then delete or de-identify them.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us. We’ll respond within 30 days.

If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first and we’ll try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
